Dia de Los Muertos Ceremonia Diversity Event

I attended the Dia de Los Muertos Ceremonia diversity event. This event was an educational event on the Latino festival of the Day of the Dead. It is a festival of remembrance of those that are no longer with us.
This ceremony is comparable to Memorial Day only much less somber. The ceremony is much like a party including song and dance and also poems. Rather than just remembering the lost one, they don’t view death as the end but the beginning of another life.
The event has been condensed greatly in the American culture. The event has been greatly shortened to one day considering the original festival could last up to over a month. Each family would honor the dead in their own home by building an alter. The alter would be decorated in their own way with pictures or other things such as sugar skulls that are eaten later.
This diversity event was very educational. It taught me more about the Latino heritage and culture. The Dia de Los Muertos Ceremonia was a great experience. They also had amazing hot chocolate there.

  1. It's always great to learn more about other cultures. This is so important in today's society where everything is becoming so culturally diverse.

  5. I found it interesting how you said it was kind of like Memorial Day. It gave me a chance to relate it to our own culture and see the differences and similarities.
