Twitter

What can I say about Twitter? Yes it is a social network that is widely popular now, just not with me. I can see where Twitter could have its bonuses, if you were on the computer all day. The way Twitter is set up it is more likely that a person who can access a computer more often throughout will be more involved in it. I’ll admit I don’t have the time required to stay updated on Twitter through class and work. Perhaps if I had more time to spend on the computer other then when I’m doing class work I would be more interested in Twitter.
While it could be a valuable source of social network I found it to be more of a hassle then anything. Having to check my computer and log onto another website to check on basically nothing. Maybe someone had a good day with a smiley face? I also found myself struggling to find anything to say while I was logged into Twitter. If multiple people came to me and wanted to have a group discussion I can see the benefit of being able to go on Twitter to continue the conversation without having to worry about interrupting anyone else. Also if the entire group cannot be together rather than lengthy emails sent to each other and then wait around for a reply they could just do short messages on Twitter and it would be more like a conversation.
I myself didn’t like this Twitter experience. I can’t see myself continuing to use Twitter unless I absolutely need it for a job or something. I’m glad that I tried Twitter and learned more about the growing technology. I just can’t see using this on a day to day basis where I would actually pay attention to it. I don’t do short little posts about my day; if I want to talk to you I’ll call you.

  1. Good reflection! It's definatley ok to have a different view point on using different things. At least you can say you tried it and didn't like it rather than never trying it and having a negative bias on it.

  2. All that matters is that you tried. :P Your blog brought up a lot of points that many others would probably agree with.

  3. I'm sorry you didn't have the best experience with the assignment, but I can see where you're coming from too. You obviously understand that it can be useful to some people, just maybe not to you at the moment. Well done.

  6. I like your point about how Twitter would be beneficial if you were on a computer all day. That is so true! I think that's why a lot of business people are on Twitter.

  8. You can call me anytime Kirk! I see how you need the technology around more to stay up to date, I like to read twitter post on my way to class and while laying in bed. If it wasn't readily available for me I would not be able to keep up.
